This movie is underrated !!! It's a shocking and a reviewer wrote disturbing but unfortunately real one The movie is realistic, the acting (oh it's so good), storyline and direction was good and decently done Worth's watching... oh definitely.
This is not an easy film. This film has an awful lot to say, is very well scripted, and has some really outstanding performances. I don't get the low ratings, I guess people are turned off by work that's is this deep, and this meaningful. The kind of abuse that this guy was subjected to as a kid just boggles the mind, the monster that his father was and the degree to which his mother was inadequate for the task, was absolutely tragic and heart breaking. The fact that he never sought out help, never knew where to start, to mend the damage done, the fact that he never really knew where to turn, I think is incredibly common, and it must be just a terrible burden to carry around. Life is hard enough without that kind of insanity added to the mix. This is a very realistic portrayal of a hugely damaged man, and is a very well done. This cut right to the bone, and the fact that so many people are turned off by the nudity shows how many fake puritans and prudes there are out there, who have a hard time with a little bit of flesh in a film. It didn't detract from this film on any level, and was quite a mature approach. I highly recommend this movie. But, brace yourself.
Why have people rated this so low due to nudity? You know it's just skin right?! Huge admiration for David Tait - the courage it must take to bare all to someone as close as his wife is unimaginable. To then carry on sharing his story whilst working for other children - what an incredibly brave man. I know from experience how childhood trauma can manifest in adulthood, and it's terrifying, horrendous and mind-boggling. If we can just educate kids about sharing and honesty, maybe our future adults won't be as broken as David Tait was. Talk to your kids. Do it now. There's no shame in being honest and open. I wish I had been.
Compelling and stifling - At times, I felt as though there was no air in the room. The writing is phenomenal, and casting was spot on superb. I wanted to reach out and save both David the child, and David the adult. This film is so beautifully written, and deeply moving. David, a vacant entity, moves through life without any real connection to anyone or anything, except his need to cleanse himself, as though what happened was somehow his doing. Filmed intelligently by creating a different visual nuance for every scene, every character, every mood, and every sin. Spectacular.
This is heartbreaking but a must see. Fantastic take on the era too. Music is brilliant and the acting first class. Love it.
The story could have been used to worn young youth about sexual harassment and that would have been a great and helpful massage too.But unfortunately though they didn't show any harmful sexual harassment scenes and they only gave expressions and hints to show us the meaning they overloaded the movie with hot * sexual scenes that really disturbed the effort.
Sulphur and White tells the true story of high-flying city trader David Tait. This is the emotional cost and redemption of a broken man. The depiction of life in the turbulent City had a a ring of truth to it, and the horrifying abuse scenes are managed with sensitivity.
Growing up in South Africa, a young boy encountered sexual abuse and when moving to England has to deal with a pressurised job in the stock market, a new life and a new born baby, with all of the terrors of his childhood to deal with throughout! Much better than the 4.9 rating 8 is more a true reflection in my humble opinion .
