As a rehabilitation health care worker, I was pleased that Hallmark included a character that had lived through a life-altering health event. I was simply left wishing that had been explored in more depth. This could have been a great forum for educating the audience in stroke after-effects. Why was Jeremy's left arm tighter during his blind date? How realistic is it that he would be permitted to drive, given the perceptual deficits that are part of so many strokes. Could his curmudgeonly demeanour be a direct stroke effect? The story line was clever; bringing the two sides together at the chance door encounter caused me to chuckle. I, too would have liked to see the parent explore with the child the issues of lying, vengeance; this could have gone beyond "causing trouble" and named a wrong. I was pleased, though, when the child unprompted offered his own apology.
This is a really lovely and good movie. I loved it! I was surprised by Corey Seviers role, which he played great! Recommend to watch it! It's a completely new idea for a Christmas love story, which I didn't expect. I think the main roles are perfectly casted and it all fits perfectly together. Corey Servier is very cute in this role and it's a blast to watch it. It shows for me, that he really is a great and emotional capable actor. Natalie Hall is also very great an gorgeous. Together they make this film special an magical. I really loved watching it. I think its one of Coreys best roles in the past few years.
I appreciate a good Hallmark movie with lots of good cheer and warm "fuzzies". But... Hallmark's new offerings this fall have been pretty dismal with a lack of direction and failure to use their cast to their abilities. Not true with this one. This movie is so much better than any others so far. The two leads are SO good together and their chemistry is not forced . The story unfolds at a realistic pace and the lead's son is truly perfect in his role. Just a really good and supportive cast all around. AND... For a change this "rom-com" actually showed some comedy chops -in an appropriate way- and not just a sappy, weak and unrealistic love story. So, yes, bravo to all. Corey Sevier and Natalie Hall and Callum Shoniker, bravo!
A wonderful production with great casting as well as writing. The two leads, as others have noted, have wonderful chemistry. The script is realistic and funny. The scenery and snow look realistic. It was nice to see the portrayal of dealing with a sudden disability. A sudden life changing disability occurred with my husband eight years ago and the chronic pain and accompanying grumpiness (curmudgeonly behavior) is spot on. Those who live with chronic daily pain will identify with this behavior and the toll it takes on relationships. My only criticism has to do with the scene with Noel's blind date. What is wrong with preferring not to shake hands? Fist bumps should be normalized, especially with Covid and the Flu increasing currently. This is a sore spot for me especially since I am immunocompromised. It would be great if in a future Hallmark movie, preferring not to shake hands and do fist bumps or something similar is portrayed as a positive way to behave to keep others safe from potential life threatening illnesses.
I truly enjoyed this one, it is one of my favorites! To make is even better it is a Christmas movie! As a wife of a disabled husband I can relate to the characters. The movie shows that love is just that LOVE! In good times, bad times sickness and health! It was great to see a movie where one character has challenges. It is also great to show that we all deserve to be loved and treated well regardless of our handicaps or shortcomings. I love my husband he is a wonderful man and this movie showed just how I feel. I see the warmth, love and the joy my husband brings me and not just his health issues. He is playful, fun and amazing and I am so glad to see a movie that reminds me so much of us a movie where one character isn't completely normal and has a different life!
I may be over exuberant with 10 stars but I just finished watching Hallmark's A Very Married Christmas that was a total dud so Noel Next Door in comparison was ten stars. The movie portrayed people with real problems, actors who can act, chemistry that is authentic, humor, drama, in short, a great Christmas movie as Hallmark in the past has produced. The script is clever and entertaining and very realistic. While typical of Hallmark, we know the resolution of the story, but there are enough twists and turns to keep you watching. No agenda in the movie unless one wants to consider the character "cancelled" from all social media for misinformation(he is a flat earth believer). All in all, this movie will be a Christmas favorite. Hallmark---keep these kind of Christmas movies coming.
