This movie had decent kayaking footage from some beautiful rivers in Mexico especially. But I found the personalities to be annoying, entitled, arrogant and reckless 20 something males, who don't seem to learn a thing after nearly losing one of their fellow kayakers. I get that some people a have an insatiable need to push the limits through extreme sports, but isn't it enough to be satisfied with having run some really tall waterfalls and gnarly whitewater? I enjoy watching kayaking movies but there are others that I think are much better. Also, the title is gimmicky, and it seems unethical to me for those involved, including the production company, to exploit the hype around an illegal and deadly act: Kayaking Niagara Falls.
Thieves! That's what I said. They stole 1hour and 13 minutes from me. They chicken out in the last 10 minutes of the movie.
Spoiler!!! He doesn't do it. I'm not saying he should have tried, in fact I think the idea was flat out stupid, I just think it's a waste of a documentary. This documentary follows a bunch of rich over privileged kids whilst they muck about. They try to make out there's a real science to what they do but it just can't across amateur. Main character is annoying and doesn't seem to be as good at kayaking as his support team.
Love sports bios and docs, But this one fails. All the kayakers are intensely irritating especially the little one. And as for the title - well you guessed it.
This is just a bunch of rich kids that can't get enough of themselves. The worst kayaker is the main character. The make out there's a huge level of organisation but they would have been in no way equipped to save the small guy if he'd actually tried to go over Niagara. Intensely annoying and we'd be better served to never see them on TV again.
I watched all the programme only for the guy to bottle the drop. Wtf !! Not a Redbull athlete.......
As others have pointed put, they don't do it and I have a feeling they never even intended on doing it. Its 98.9% guaranteed to be a suicide mission and that's exactly what we all would have seen had he actually gone ahead and did it. That said, if you liked this movie check out art of flight, its better and along the same lines (less the fake suicide mission at the end).
Simply put, the best kayak film I have seen to date. It isn't a paddle * flick as there is a really important moral undertone throughout the movie, although you will not be disappointed with the images captured. Rush Sturges and Co. you outdid yourselves as the production quality, the story line, and execution are unmatched. I think a lot of folks will be surprised. Well worth the 10 bucks. I have seen some negative reviews as to whether the team runs Niagara Falls or not, let me finish by saying that it is not what is or is not run in this film but instead how they approach their challenges and decision making throughout. This is a great film for those who are pushing the upper limits of what's possible or even for those just getting started.
They don't do it. Yes it's called "Chasing Niagara", but they don't actually go over Niagara Falls. They chicken out at the end. There, I saved you an hour and 20 minutes. You're welcome. I'm giving it an extra star because it was shot well and the scenery looked beautiful. Rich people traveling the world having a helicopter take hi-def shots while you kayak - rough life! I don't recommend this movie; There's really no point to it. Again, the scenery is beautiful and shot well. It's neat to learn a little about what they do. But I have no sympathy for people with money wasting time getting an adrenaline high while a helicopter films their attempts in 1080P hi-def.
