Black Crab

How could anyone rate it less than 8 unless they were looking for a romantic comedy? This movie is absolutely excellent for what it is. Continuous tension, a relatively meaningful plot, engaging characters that you care about. Astounding production value and unique scenery. This movie has everything you could hope for. But of course you have to be a fan of the genre to enjoy it.

Whilst watching the movie, you keep wondering what actually caused this war and who was involved. And it is more of these questions that just keep unanswered in the movie. It is even that certain things in the movie happen that are never explained. This movie could have had so much more potential if the story would have been better developed. I am most certainly not a fan of Neflix its "1.5x" speed feature, but for this movie it came in very handy. The second half of the movie I played at 1.5x and I still found it slowgoing.

There is so much missing from this story. How did things get this way? Where is her daughter? Why did she get abandoned at the Humvee? Was he talking to his girlfriend or was he a traitor? Why did the couple at the house start shooting? Why would you have a scalpel when doing a simple dressing change? What was the end with her and her daughter in the water? The acting was done very well.

This movie wont ever be considered a chef d'oeuvre, so lets get this out of the way. Very small spoiler alert : Now, its a nearly perfect cinematography for the genre. The story/intrigue is wayyyy enough for you to enjoy. Its a must see if you're a movie fan and it does not deserve the 5.6 it currently has on IMDB. Main actress is solid, as usual, and all the character are credible and useful to this kind of plot (but couldve been more. Example : the tough guy couldnt been more useful, the sensitive dude couldve brought more in term of moral dilema etc...). Bigger spoiler alert : The big flaw stands in the psychological aspect of the main character. IMO, its like if the director couldnt choose between the daughter dilema and the bio weapon dilema, leaving little to no room for actual believable internal conflict for the main protagonist. Must see.
