This series remains Very Real - Not Scripted. Unlike so many of these shows where after the third season the players either begin playing to the camera or the producers begin bringing in their own actors to pad the production this Shaw remains true to itself.
I discovered this show about a year and a half ago. I don't know how I missed it! These guys are not only talented in their chosen craft, but where else can you see "hillbillies" quoting Shakespeare and being intellectually "punny"? I binge watched a couple of Saturdays to catch up (thank you DIY and GAC networks!), and now I wait for Sunday night for new episodes. I know more about barns and log cabins than I ever imagined I would. There is at least one other "log cabin" show similar to this - but it doesn't compare to this crew. A real bright spot on TV!
I know a few of these guys personally and most of the producers and film crew...couldn't ask for a better bunch of guys. Down to earth and just friendly as can be. They all do a fantastic job.
Great show. Not only show hard team work, but makes you feel good at the end of every show.
I was hoping to see this show return for another season. It's fun historical and down right a family show. The beauty of this show for me it is real and honest. Besides re telling of Americas history thru the eyes of the current Generation on the past. Without a doubt my Daddy would be proud a he worked on a farm as a boy and his eyes sparkled when telling us about it growing up. Hope B.B. has a terrific run of at least 10 or 20 more seasons. Hats off to a well produced Family Show. Bravo Ya'll
This is the more way these shows should be done. Entertaining, informative, light on drama. It still could be a little more information and a little less "character" for my taste, but it's much better than most. I'm tired of shows that are supposed to be about practical matters full of artificial deadlines, fake disasters, personal drama, and people who obviously don't know what they're talking about presented as "experts". This show is not free of these things, what reality show is? But there's less than many other shows of this type. They take the time to explain things and follow up on results later.
This show is full of self-complacent, trite homilies on how blessed they are doing what they do....which is really what? Reclaiming old wood and essentially doing doing nothing else. Never have I see these barnwood "builders" actually build anything. I see nothing of any constructive effort that actually manifests in anything but a wistful appreciation of old lumber in already built structures that they had no part in building. This is a sad wannabe show that doesn't deserve the attention. It really is a total a waste of time. Same theme as Curse of Oak Island, always some drama but never any treasure.
These guys are great to watch - they're truly nice guys, no drama on the show which is very refreshing, and the work is fascinating. Respect for the past and the skills used here pave a wonderful path for the future. Hope you guys stay real, and keep up the good work!!
I have enjoyed every episode, and they are only getting better. Their skills with building are unparalleled. The before/after scenes are just remarkable I knew a few of these guys before they started the show. They are just as funny in person. Congratulations, guys! You are making "Hillbillies" great again.
