Into 10 minutes of watching the movie, thought that i might as well stop watching it. But you know what, i love scott adkins and just kept watching it. And i kind of started liking the movie after 40 minutes, because that's when the real action starts. I liked all the action sequences in the movie but my favorite is the one that comes in the mid point, that ones really good. Perry benson was good and funny, all the guys who played assassins were nice. If you can bear with the not so good first half, a bit jarring vfx, if you love mindless action and scott adkins you might as well give it a try.
This is a disappointingly rushed follow-up to the original movie, which I largely enjoyed. HITMAN'S HOLIDAY was obviously made on the cheap (in just a couple of weeks) with location shooting in Malta the only asset. The story is as basic as ever, but this time mired in dumb humour and even dumber situations, resorting to toilet humour and the like to make an impact. I only found a couple of scenes amusing. On the plus side, it once again has superior fight choreography even if the action is a far cry from that of the original movie, and some scenes, like the killer clown, go on far too long. The Chinese girl is a real scene-stealer here.
We live in pretentious times. If a film doesn't feature "the message" or other agendas, it is usually given the middle finger by critics. Which is unfair. I DO NOT want EVERY film I see to pander to the popular political or social agendas of today. Sometimes, I JUST WANT a WILD GOOD TIME! This film delivers on the idea of an adrenaline-fueled great night out. Scott Adkins is Accident man. He is trusted to guard and protect he son of wealthy woman. While that may sound like something you heard before, this film is anything but that. You will be taken on trip throw crazy assassins, mythological killers and tons of humor. The film also lets the women shine. Plenty of female action and great vibes from everyone. While you may think the film has no meaning, that is not true. The message of the need for friendship and family is heartfelt, but not beaten over the head. I love the relationship between the Scottt and his best friend. There is a clearly a large market for these types of films and no one seems to be investing into it. There is large section of the world that wants a return to 80's/90's action films with REAL action stars. We had a man's night out and this film rocked the house! Great action, story and fun! I loved it.
I saw the first one, and kind'a figured a 'one way plot'. Just saw the second one. Lotsa great acting. Lotsa great action. Lotsa humour. Characters didn't take themselves too seriously. Or, well, those who were written that way, at least. There a a few good twists and turns in there. If you pay attention to the details, you can see the end coming. It was a surprisingly good tie-up to everything. I still haven't figured if it was planned that way, or whether they just took advantage of the setup. Unlike very few movies, I do come back to this one every once in a while to watch some scenes. What I do want to know, what flavour of Benelli was handled by Big Ray?
