Diamonds, dinner guests, dream sequences, time shifts, perspective shifts, poison, s&m romance, musical interludes... After the mostly straightforward JETT, the director of the twisted ELIZABETH HARVEST has really gone off the reservation here. The prompt seems to be: make a different kind of series that doesn't play by the same old rules of engagement. So what is it - psychological thriller? Mystery? Comedy? Love story? Gutierrez has produced such an entertaining series that it does not seem to matter. Gugino and Jansen are engaging leads and newcomer Eve and scene stealer De La Reguira provide many laughs. Jett alumni Gentry White smolders and barks orders at everyone and looks like he was chiseled into shape by Rodin. The isolated setting and constant reminder that nature is all around us only adds to the Lewis Carroll dream vibe. This is a delightful head trip I shall revisit more than once.
