My inner masochist was working overtime when I decided to watch this movie to the end. No amount of colorful clothes or characters could save this story and make it understandable. I think the writers had a basis for the story but everyone was on non-speaking terms with each other and decided to write their parts on their own. The movie probably also went through an editing hell because it looks like its missing half of the scenes. And the acting..oh the acting! Its ridiculously stupid, dramatic and overdone that it must be one of the dumbest "netflix influencer pretty faces empty brains" movies I've ever watched in my life. These movies are all the same, the only difference is the language.
Dumb jokes, a poor script and very, very bad acting. This movie is supposed to be funny, but I think that only the script writers had a good time laughing about their own 'jokes'. Humor has got a lot to do with timing. This is completely off. It reminds me of the television shows on the Dutch tele in the '80's with one dimensional plots. Those shows were better.
I didn't expect it but the movie was quiet funny and story is great. Maryam is great actress. Seemed that this role was written for her. Finally a modern moroccan romantic comedy. I think new moroccan generation is ready for it. At least in the Netherlands. I hope for meskina 2.
I don't like Dutch movies. Reason is that Dutch people just can't act. The few Dutch people who can, go to America to support big movie productions. This movie is about Marocan people. I like the story, I really do. But a movie just based on a good story is not watchable for me. This movie was painful to watch. There are no actors or actresses in this movie. They searched for Marocan people and ended with Marocan stand up commedians, Marocan social media influencers and Marocan supporting actors. From the beginning to the end you see people who cannot act, trying to make this movie funny. Trying to be just isn't the real deal. Maybe for young people, like teenagers, this movie might be funny. I don't know. For me I could not relate to these people. Jokes that are funny on paper, got lost due to terrible acting that was not realistic. Even the acting of this big girl (stand up commediant, don't know her name) who is the sister of the main character, was not funny. My 12 years old daughter likes her shows, but that does not make this girl an actress. If you like Dutch movies filled with bad acting, go watch this one. But if bad acting is like horror to you, just avoid this one. Don't do this to yourself.

O FILME É GOSTOSO DE ASSISTIR, PORÉM DEIXA MUITA COISA PARA SER RESOLVIDA NO FILNAL E ACABA QUE A PRINCIPAL "SACADA" DA PERSONALGEM EM DEIXAR DE SER UMA PRINCESA E VIRAR UMA RAINHA SE TORNA BANAL E INFANTIL. O FILME EM SI É BEM LEGAL, NÃO TRAZ ABORDAGENS PESADAS E MOSTRA UMA CULTURA QUE RARAMENTE É MOSTRADA EM FILMES. ME LEMBROU MUITO O FILME "CASAMENTO GREGO".
Really, really bad movie. The plot was boring and it felt like the writers were a bit confused about it as well. The few movie "peaks" were unrelatable and there was no emotional build up, so they just felt uncomfortable. What was the point of having both Amin and Fabian, who were presented as equally liked by her, and then let Fabian go but not really explain why she continued the relationship with Amin. The worst of all however, was the end. She went out to present an award and she instead made a speech that was 100% about herself and and how she is not a loser, only to announce the winner after the applause. To me it doesn't really make sense that the audience in the event found this relatable/moving and clapped - it felt uncalled for and cringy, people are there for the awards, not for your personal drama. The writers tried to somehow connect the speech with the event's concept but this was so poorly done that it was sad.
Fun loving, enjoyable movie. Sadly they didn't translate the moroccan dialogs. Watched it with dutch subtitles since I'm Dutch. De moraal van het verhaal was wel echt goed. Je kan zoeken wat je wilt in anderen, maar je moet niet jezelf verliezen. En je hebt niet een vent nodig om gelukkig te zijn.
Not bad.... A good movie funny / romantic story I recommend to you. The first original Moroccan movie on Netflix. We need more original Moroccan series and movies on the platform!!!!
I know that Dutch movies are not the greatest, but I think this movie is very important for Dutch people to watch. Both boys and girls. I could definitely relate to the story and I found it such a relief to have a story like this presented. Times have finally changed and I am happy that my daughter is growing up in a world where there are options!
