source: No Sleep 'Til Christmas
I kept watching this movie in the hopes that it would get better.. it didn't. She spends the whole movie cheating on her absolutely perfect and devoted fiancé then leaves him at the alter in the end for the alcoholic bartender that she was cheating with. This was a complete mess and only made me angry at the end of it.
I feel like the only people who could possibly enjoy this trash are those who have never had a healthy relationship. I agree with Drew Gooden. The plot and main characters are infuriating. At what point are either of them in a position to be redeemed and thus "rooted for?"
Usually I am not a fan of real life Husband and Wife or couples playing romantic partners on screen but in this movie it's alright. Odette and Dave Annable are the leads in this rom com about 2 people having trouble sleeping not sex, except when they are together. Always have been a fan of Odette. Dave should dye his hair black - the premature grey ages him unnecessarily. The acting and dialogue are better than the average Christmas movie.
I was skeptical when I started watching this. I had not heard anything about it and it seemed like an odd idea for a movie. With that being said, it was amazing. I was so interested and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. It was executed perfectly. I would 100% recommend "No Sleep 'Til Christmas".
I found this tooling around "on demand". I didn't know the actors were married until I saw it in the credits. And I want to give kudos for this being an original idea. Lizzy is a uber organized (aren't they all) event planner who is about to be married to a surgeon on new years eve. So she also has that wedding to plan. Right after thanksgiving she comes up with a horrible problem... total insomnia. As anyone who has that knows, you will do anything to solve it. One night while driving around at 3 AM to cure her insomnia... she hits a man jogging at 3 am, Billy. Billy has had insomnia his whole life. Billy is ok but she insists on taking him to the hospital. In the car, just before they go in, they stop to listen to a favorite song and both are awakened at 1:30 PM by paramedics who think they are unconscious in the car. That was funny. But the point was... they both slept, they both had a great nights sleep. Alas, not to be. Both Billy and Lizzy return to their insomnia. Lizzy eventually grows so desperate she goes to his workplace and offers him money to "sleep" just sleep with her. Her theory is that after a while she will grow used to sleeping without him. In exchange she will loan him money to get his bar off the ground in exchange for 10% of the profits. Billy would be a fool not to do this so he agrees. At first they sleep in the car but eventually they rent out a hotel room and basically use pillows for separation. Lizzy doesn't tell her fiancee because he is a doctor and works nights. There were three logical problems in this move. (1) no mention of sleeping pills -- which would seem to be an easier way before turning to sleeping with a stranger; (2) falling in love with someone you just slept with. How could you get to know them, for the majority of time you are with them, you are asleep? and (3) though they go to a sleep clinic, no real insight on why these two can only sleep with each other. But the lead characters are winning and they make the best of the plot device.
Personally, if you're in the mood for a corny Christmas movie where the two leads always fall in love within a short amount of time and in time for Christmas, then this is your movie. If not, and you have a finer taste for movies, then stray away. This movie, in a sick sense, glorifies the idea of cheating in a relationship where one person is deeply in love with the other. To be honest, I despised the movie and every character in it. Crap movie, do not recommend. 🤢
Unfunny, boring, and just downright wrong. This movie teaches you to practically cheat on your fiancée for 0 reason because there's some sort of connection? Ridiculous, shameful movie.
I literally have no idea how IMDB rating works. Some amazing movies got under 5 stars and some movies you wouldn't finish and just plain old dumb storyline got over 7 stars.
I get that the acting isn't amazing. ( no Christmas movie is) but what the heck! When she leaves josh, a man with a plan for Billy I was enraged. We're we supposed to feel happy for billy and Lizzie or something? Josh was a good guy, and Lizzie is a jerk for leaving him. They could have had an amazing life. There could have been some medicine to cure her insomnia, she didn't need to keep sleeping with Billy. And I get that josh's mom was a little intense, but I don't know, she could ghost her! I just lost all connection with the main character and moved on to team Josh when she ruined it all. Thank you.
