"I'd rather you stick a needle in my eye than insult me" My God, this was a terribly bad movie. Regardless of whether you are to assume that this is really nothing more than a bad B-action movie and you definitely shouldn't take this too seriously, I think it is a monstrosity of a movie. Terrible acting (even Danny Glover's acting was dreadful), bad fight scenes , incredibly old SE's and such mindless humor that even a laugh track wouldn't work . However, what can be expected from someone who has films directed with titles such as "Saving Ryan's Privates", "The 41 -Year- Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It" and "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I have a feeling that Craig Moss used more energy and creativity on devising this film titles than in creating it. The involvement of Danny Trejo in here is also an indication that this won't be a exalted movie. When you look at his filmography, however, you can only have respect for the man. Is there actually a movie he hasn't played in? There are 18 movies in post -production with him at this time. Amazing ! I haven't seen "Bad Ass" myself (and I probably won't anyway). The only reason I wanted to watch this one is the fact that Danny Glover starred in it. It seemed like an attempt to make a follow up of "Lethal Weapon". The things that made "Lethal Weapon" so unique and entertaining, was missing here . . No flashy action, no humor and no infectious interaction between the two protagonists. I suppose that the beginning was an excerpt from "Bad Ass" where we witness how Frank Vega (Danny Trejo) teaches a duo of skinheads a lesson. Apparently this is enough to make him a local hero and even a honorary member of the police. Vega has a gym and the emerging star Manny has a not so healthy job on the side, namely trading drugs. One evening he's killed by the head of the drug gang. Vega is determined with the help of Bernie (Danny Glover), after Manny's mother begging, to take revenge on this gang for the death of his pupil who he treated as his own son . The script is as predictable as it can get. You know where it's going and how it will end. If they have deliberately created this film as a humorous pulp action movie then I would understand. But I fear that it was meant to be a serious movie. The commitment of a veteran to give a group of problem children a future and a vision. But unfortunately it became an unlikely story. The most funny thing in this film were the farts of Glover. Now some things that really annoyed me. Danny Glover , an old man who shambles around all day with a phobia so he's afraid to leave his shop and who also has liver disease, suddenly jumps to the rescue and swings around with a hockey stick as if he's a reborn Bruce Lee. I am convinced that if you get an ice pick shoved in your eye, you won't be walking around moments later in a good mood with just an eye patch. The chance that you can throw a hand grenade from a speeding jeep in a flying helicopter after which the latter blows up( with an incredibly ugly looking explosion) is minuscule. And as always, the gang members armed with automatic rifles still stand there frightfully waving those guns around while the police drive up with the sirens blaring. They stand there with such an air like "Ok, I see that they are coming, but I persist on being tough". And the incredibly delicious looking mother of Manny, falls for Vega . Incomprehensible ! I had a vision of 70's television serials like "The A-Team" when watching this movie. So terribly old-fashioned. Just that this 70's-80's serials looked far better than this movie. I honestly do not think words are capable to help express how outrageously ingeniousness, deep and well crafted this movie is. The acting, directing, set design, lighting, script, cinematography and thought provoking filming utilized in this magnum opus is almost too much for the fickle human brain to comprehend. People might talk about the most basic extrapolations of the movie that can be inferred from it , like characters , coherent plot, consistency , pacing , sensible editing , and a general attempt to make you understand what you are watching. But Bad Ass 2: Bad asses forsakes such elementary movie tropes and conventions in favor of giving you what other forms of art can only be disillusioned into thinking they can achieve - The meaning of life itself. In the journey to self retribution Danny Trejo realizes that there are things in life out there bigger than him, but I did not understand one god damn thing about this movie. but that is exactly what life is like, you might not understand it , but an old black man farted in the middle of an old Mexican fella trying to kiss a mature single mother. And there, my life was finally complete again. Thank you officer.

Boxing instructor and prune juice junkie Frank (Danny Trejo) teams up with high sticking curmudgeon Bernie (Danny Glover) to avenge the death of a young drug dealing boxer. The plot is predictable. The film is filled with cliches and corny humor poking fun at old men. This is a fun comedy/action film. Where else are you going to see Trejo playing Barbies? Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity. Sarah Dumont bra/panties and double majors.

Entertaining and funny. I love that the director did not try to portray those two as indestructible strapping action heroes. It starts with Trejo drinking a glass full of prune juice first thing in the morning along with a fist full of pills. He and Glover team up to rid their neighborhood of the drug king pin that killed Trejo's boxing protégé. The movie was action packed but the action was in proportion to the age of the actors. It was also comical. At one point in the movie Glover sent a text to the police so they could rendezvous and ambush the drug dealers. The police showed up after the dealers were apprehended and the police officer said "Sorry At&t. I didn't get your text message until 10 minutes after you sent it." LOL! I was like woah! Which one of the carriers paid for that insult? Hilarious and shocking. In all it was a light hearted and funny movie and not to be taken too seriously.

As if we needed more bad ass than the great Danny Trejo attempting to create a new cult franchise to complement his major motion picture franchise, Machete, they give us another well know bad ass in the legendary Danny Glover. I have to admit, Glover is cool and all, but it has been a long time since the Lethal Weapon franchise and his performance in the movie reflects it. He seems to play more old man than bad ass. What he does bring in full effect is total humor as the real bad ass's side kick, a role he always done well, and this is no exception. Wacth Trejo kick some ass, get the girl, and save the day,and watch Glover make you laugh. Totally worth the time.

If you are reading the review, then you are aware that the film is called Bad Ass 2: Bad Assess, so you know that narrative, story, script, and comprehension are not the film makers main focus. They know they have got Danny Glover as an agoraphobic, grumpy old man, and people of an age will just have Lethal Weapon flash before their eyes and go for it. Much like me. Story wise, if you've seen any action film from the eighties, you will know, even before he opens his mouth, that the kid is going to get killed, and be the rationale for Trejo to do his death wish again. It's not the best film in the world, but it's sincere in trying to hark back to the buddy action comedies of the eighties. Glover is brilliant, and the scene where they gate crash the party is hilarious, and the ending has a great payoff to that film. When a film really dwells on a scene involving a little girl wanting a secret room, you absolutely know that room will be used to effect come the end of the film. It's ninety minutes if switch your brain off rubbish. It's nothing brilliant, but you could do a heck of a lot worse.

I thought I would watch this given the fact that I've seen the first one which even though was not great was at least watchable. The sequel in my opinion is better than the first one. Danny Trejo as Frank Vega & Danny Glover as Bernie Pope are an entertaining couple of grumpy hard-cases who take it upon themselves to avenge Vega's boxing Protégé who got involved with drug dealers and was murdered as a result. The movie is basically about them finding out who was responsible. The good points about the movie are that Trejo and Glover work well on screen. Sure, it's not equal to great buddy cop comedy action movies like Lethal Weapon, but given the story and budget it's still entertaining. There are humorous situations, like the two riding a bus in pursuit of justice, or taking a taxi to trail the main criminal whilst wearing what can only be described as ridiculous outfits (fanny packs included). Danny Glover''s character hitting on a college student about 50 years younger than him was funny as well. The bad points are that the movie is predictable, implausible, and has a lot of plot holes which distract from the story. At times there are even contradictions, like Vega telling a bunch of kids that drugs are for losers and then bribing a security guard with a bag of weed. The effects of the explosion in the movie are pretty bad too. The ending feels rushed and has a fairy tale ending feel to it. The fact that this is also predictable takes the movie down a notch. Overall though I would give it a generous 6/10 as it's not the worst way to spend 90 minutes if you don't have anything better to do. Just don't expect your brain to be engaged in the experience at all.

Danny Glover might say he's too old for that ... as much as he wants. Fact of the matter is he's still kicking it (or them). In this case he's helping a friend out ... and who wouldn't want to be friends with Danny Trejo? Or any character he portrays of course! Seriously though: If you have seen part one (not necessary for this one, even though it "continues" the story), you will know if this is a movie you will be able to enjoy or not. The added Glover flavor does not elevate the movie too much, though it's always fun hearing the two main actors going at each other. Still there quite a few flaws and you'll be aware that both of them are not really able to do what their characters are supposed to do ... but maybe you won't even care and just enjoy a movie that is like a blast from the past.
