hmmm am so afraid
There is NO WAY this movie is a 10...and I've seen at least one of those ratings. I don't like to trash indie work, because I know it's not easy to put together, but for Pete's sake, if you're fortunate enough to be able to see your vision come to life, at least make it a decent watch! Started out, okay, then, like so many other films, devolved into a total waste of time. Morbid curiosity forced me to watch it until the end. The only thing scary about this movie is, a nun wearing lipstick (have they evolved that much over the years?), the crap dialogue which must have been written by a couple of 13 year olds and the acting...which was just...no. The positives and the only reason it got two stars... The church ruins were amazing. The "prison" was kind of cool and the song playing during the credits, was pretty cool. But...don't bother...really...don't waste your time.
I never really tend to write reviews on movies because what some people like others won't, that's also why I learned never to listen to the reviews, watch the trailer or maybe a few of them, give the movie a chance. I have loved movies that literally have had 2 stars and couldn't understand why. So if you like scary movies I'd say give it a chance, if u like it u like it, if u don't well clearly u don't. I can say now I'm a bit frightened of nuns now 😂.
I have to say, I am on the fence about this one. The film is a standard horror film that stays within traditional horror tropes. It is a little to familiar, with a lot of the material having been seen and done before. And yet, it the cinematography is good, it taps into that comfortable horror styled atmosphere, and it offers a somewhat memorable baddie in Sister Monday. With "A Nun's Curse" I think my biggest complaint is just how long it takes before anything significant happens. For the first 40 or so minutes it is filled with too much dramatic dialog, exposition and melodrama that really eats into the runtime. But from there on things get somewhat interesting and the story transitions into a full on horror story. Again, the atmosphere is cool. I found myself really starting to get into. The horror elements are pretty well done. There is some stereotypical paranormal styled moments that are your standard gimmicks used. The best part is that the kills are done with practical effects that look good. The down side that the time starts running out on the film so the kills seem rushed. Overall, as much as I wanted to really like "A Nun's Curse" there was just more that I didn't like. I enjoyed Felissa Rose as Sister Monday but it takes too long to get her on screen. There is a "surprise" twist to the ending that will become clear before it is intended to, but it is a cool one. Unfortunately instead of ending the film there the story goes for another, weaker ending that kinda ruins things. As always check it out but don't expect much. It has some moments that are interesting, but not everyone will enjoy this one.
This is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. The actors weren't good and the plot was horrible. The entire movie was just bad. If I could rate it a 0/10 I would.
Felissa Rose gives a Scholarly Performance as 'Sister Monday' , a Self-Righteous Religious Zealot who took the Laws of God & Man into Her Own Hands & Delivered Her Punishments Judiciously ! Now , Over 70 Years Later , She may have Returned to Continue Her Onslaught ! The Star of the Film is the Lovely Erika Edwards playing the Studious & Macabre Minded 'Ashley-Kat' , who's especially obsessed with Tales of Sister Monday . Her Spiteful & Vindictive Sister 'Gabby' , who seems to have been Born with a Silver Spoon in Her Mouth is portrayed by the Glamorously Gorgeous Kristi Ray , who is reminiscent of a Young Traci Lords , Body & All ! Damien Maffei is Gabby's Rude Sex-Hungry Boy-friend 'Anthony' & Gunner Willis is the Nerdy Psych-Student 'Michael' . Adorable Ashley-Kae Luker is the 'Young Ashley-Kae' & Jason Vail is The 'Father' . There's plenty of Blood , Killings , & a Dismemberment Thrown in for Kicks . The Story's told trough Real-Time & Flashbacks so Don't let your mind wander or Sister Monday may Sneak-Up on You !
