"Don't Leave" is a deeply evocative film that masterfully explores the intricate dynamics of love, loss, and emotional detachment. At the heart of this narrative is Semih, a character whose struggle with emotional expression forms the crux of the story. His profound love for his girlfriend, juxtaposed with his inability to actively fight for the relationship, paints a poignant picture of a man wrestling with the ghosts of his past. Semih's detachment is not just a personal battle; it's a reflection of his deeper unresolved feelings about his father's departure from his life. The film brilliantly uses this parallel to delve into the complexities of how past traumas can shape our present relationships. The departure of his girlfriend mirrors the abandonment he felt as a child, further intensifying his emotional turmoil. The storytelling is subtle yet powerful, weaving a narrative that's both intimate and relatable. Semih's character resonates with anyone who has ever struggled with the challenge of expressing their deepest emotions. His journey through the film is a poignant reminder of the invisible burdens of past experiences. In essence, "Don't Leave" is more than just a story about a failed romance. It's an introspective look at how our past can hold sway over our present, affecting our relationships in ways we might not fully understand. The film is a compelling exploration of the human psyche, inviting viewers to reflect on their own emotional journeys and the unseen impacts of their histories.

This one should be rated far higher than it is. It is not really a romance movie or a love story, it's a sad and poignant film about people who have outgrown each other in a relationship, or at least one of them has and the other is left to wonder. Love is not always enough for a relationship to work, people move on even from being seemingly happy. I think it manages to show the feeling of void one feels after being broken up with and that period right afterward one inevitable spends in agony recalling all the things he did wrong and looking for answers he already knows in the back of his mind I think it is beautifully written and filmed, the mixed timeline worked really well story-wise, actors did a great job, I have no idea what people want from a movie these days tbh.

This is one of the few things i watched without looking at the rating first and tbh I would've not watch it with rating like this but im very glad i did For me this movie gives perspective to what goes into a relationship and how complicated and beautiful it is. I was actually surprised it wasn't a cliche romance and unrealistic drama,it touched me I rewatched a couple of scenes from how good it was the actress did a phenomenal job and I appreciate how the time line is filmed you have to pay attention though you never know when its flash back or not sometimes. You have to give it a shot it is worth it.

Don´t Leave (original tittle in Turkish is Kal) gives us a short but sometimes deeply image about modern relationship in your 30's and how you give it an "expiration day" when it starts o maybe extend it with easy steps. This movie is an invitation to rethink our love behavior through a masculine vision (personaly I appreciate that) and how Semih remembered his relation with Defne, specially goods times in flash-backs and moments when they were loosing each other trying to be goods partners to the "other" but not for her/himself across behaviors to indulge, avoid fears or expose your insecurities. If you are in a relation or perhaps you are losing it this movie gives some clues to move away from the background thinking in your feelings and how you can be a better person for yourself.

Too dark as in I can't see what's going on. The darkness of imaging made it unwatchable (on Netflix!). I gave it a few stars for the actors' effort, but the camera man dropped the ball. Have tried to focus so I can distinguish the movements but got tired in the first 15 minutes. I had read the remarks and really made an effort. Then had looked forward to see how the subject matter played. Looked forward to the dialogues and the story in itself. Had watched the main actor recently and also wanted to check out the range of his acting, as the reviews indicated he's worth the watch. But what the heck?!
