Gilbert Gonzalez (Adrian Martinez), feels isolated from the world. He is 39, a virgin, obese and lives with his sarcastic, overprotective mother, who owns the Manhattan brownstone. Fearful of life and people, yet starving for human connection, Gilbert takes photos of women secretly, wherever and whenever he can. Enter Jana, (Dascha Polanco), a tenant in the building and the source of innumerable fantasies. Jana is a contradiction -- beautiful but haunted by her own insecurities that inhibit her from standing up to her ex-boyfriend Tony, (Raul Castillo), an Iraq war vet with PTSD. Gilbert dreams of rescuing Jana but doesn't believe she could ever love him, especially if she knew about all the secret photos. This love triangle becomes a battle for human connection which is increasingly difficult in our digital and disconnected world.

Hard to make out what to make of this, but I liked it. I found the movie to be Bold and Honest with the subject matter of Gilbert, an oh to average story of a boy trapped in a man's body due to emotional truma (In this case, it was mostly due to his abusive father he never got to settle the score with). A strange coming of Age story for a man too old to for that story. It's a fair overall movie. You would think that the movie is about us showing empathy for the type of man Gilbert is, but for me I honestly, I feel like I'm a better person for seeing an acknowledging how much of Gilbert is in me. It was a strange movie but perfectly executed.

Indie film spirit, thought provoking story, cautionary tale really. Stuff like this is already happening with teens, so much so that it's considered normal, it's a hard topic for people to talk about but a necessary one. I appreciate the story, wish it had expanded it a little more. Great performances throughout. Love the female lead, refreshing seeing her do a role like this. Pretty cool to see Latinos be the majority of the leads, don't see that often.

It will be a story about a pervert only if the leading man was a white guy. But in current Hollywood will promote all kind of criminal behaviour as heroic as long as it is about a person from the minority race. It is a sick movie, dose not deserve to be made or released.

I came across this film accidentally and decided to check it out because its premise seemed interesting but turns out to be bad on so many levels. The story is stupid and ridiculous. Directing is a mess. Screenplay is so weak and cheesy. It badly tries to tackle multiple topics so it loses its main path. Performances are lame.

Imagine if the pervert next door who takes pervert pictures of women, hides cameras in the bedroom and bathroom of unsuspecting women becomes the hero of a story.
