This movie was really enjoyable if you don't go into it with your mind made up about what it should be. Reading other reviews, I can understand their harsh sentiments but I don't think the movie deserves a 1 star rating by any means. The actors have great on-screen chemistry and I enjoyed seeing that play out throughout the film. I do agree that for the film to be named what it is, there wasn't a ton of focus on the journal and why Jordan might need certain lessons from the book (there is only one scene from what I can recall). For me it was reminiscent of those classic black love movies from the 90's and I have been missing that lately from cinema. This was certainly not the worst or best movie of the year but it is a nice escape from everything going on in the world right now. Definitely a movie for a GNO or maybe date night if your man doesn't mind you gawking over MBJ :)

I think there's a magic displayed in this film that has been missing for quite sometime now. It's a real story about real people and the situations are very familiar. I thoroughly enjoyed the musical selections, as well as, the attentiveness to the details of each time period. A true tear jerker paired with tasteful intimacy and mild language made it even more digestible. Great job!

Very refreshing romantic story of love and family. To know that it is a true story pulls at the heart strings. Have a box of tissues close by. I am moved at the direction, production and acting. Great film!

This film start with a woman waking up from her dream, and she walking to her working place scene! As turnout, this film is about a widow "Dana" need to inspire her son "Jordan" with the journal write by her husband "Charles"! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the arguing scene, overuse of the calling names scene, overuse of the talking on the phone scene, overuse of the staring scene, overuse of the drinking scene, overuse of the eating scene, overuse of the driving scene, overuse of the sleeping scene, overuse of the waking up scene, overuse of the reading scene, overuse of the flashbacks scene, overuse of the taking photo scene, overuse of the listening song scene, and overuse of the kissing scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, friends, and relatives of Charles pay tribute to him at his grave! That's it! Another disappointed film!
