A nice story about love and civic challenge, seductive for fair acting and for the decent use of Hallmark recipes . Not special but acceptable in large measure, reminding old cliches and too familiar situations. So, far to be spectacular , simplistic at whole but working for a sort of ingenuity and drops of vulnerability of main characters.
When cara (tammy gillis) finally buys the big house on the river in her hometown, she discovers that a large dam is being built right next to her house. Which will also interfere with the favorite, summer tourist spots. So she confronts riley (morgan jones), the cute foreman on the project and searches for a site that will work just as well. It's very cute and well done, in hallmark channel style. Adversarial couple tries to find common ground to resolve some issue. Can they iron out their differences, where-ever the construction is? Directed by sean cisterna, who already has six new films in production. Story by kate pregnell. It's a comfort film, like a cup of hot chocolate.
I have watched a few of the movies with this particular film composer. I find that his sound tracks are insipid, filled with too many triad arpeggiations, root position chords, and that the music detracts from the movie. The background feels like listening to the Heart and Soul accompaniment or an omnichord strumming, and there is little attention paid to creating melodies and giving the music some direction. There does not seem to be a proper relationship between the music and the action in the movie and the music is distracting. I know that this composer can do better and I would like to see him compose more inspired music for films. I am not just talking about this film but other films I have seen where he has composed the music. I have a doctorate in music so I do have background in this area.
This is one of the worse films in its category. The story is bad and unrealistic. The characters are bland. The actors are wooden, unattractive and slightly annoying. Take a long bath, a walk, reorganise a closet or sleep. It would be a much better use of that time.
