This is when Cody Rhodes underestimated Christian. At Over the Limit 2012, Christian won a battle royal and challenged Cody for the Intercontinental Title. Christian hit Cody with the Killswitch to win the title. On Smackdown, Christian beat Hunico in a non-title match. Cody appeared, saying he restored the glory of the title after it was held by jokes like Santino Marella. Christian ruined everything in one night, saying nobody will care about the title anymore because nobody cares about Christian, adding that he’s going to get his rematch. A week later, Cody beat Tyson Kidd with Christian on commentary. Cody went in front of him and stared him down. Next week, Christian was about to host his show, Cody came out before him and hijacked it. Cody said Christian stole the title he brough glory back to. Christian interrupted, saying it was him who beat him for the title. He said if Cody wanted to host his show, he should’ve asked. The only thing Cody wanted to ask is who is he trying to fool. He said before Over the Limit, Christian didn’t care about the fans, he only cared about himself, asking him why did he get soft and got rid of his self respect. Christian said he had a moment of clarity after he inducted Edge into the hall of fame, saying fighting for the fans is a privilege, adding that he doesn’t want to be the guy who begs for one more match. He said he returned to win titles and get a hall of fame worthy career. Cody said he got lucky at Over the Limit, adding that the title is coming home. Christian said he was nice enough to start his show and he will be nice enough to end the show by beating him. Dolph Ziggler appeared, telling Cody to leave because he’s there to beat Christian. Then they had a match. Christian hit Dolph with a frog splash to win the match. They met at No Way Out. Christian caught Cody with a spear to retain the title. On Smackdown, Christian faced Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match. Alberto tapped out Christian to win the match. Cody attacked Christian, threw him into the post and to
