🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: On July 26, 2008, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto put his WBA welterweight title on the line against Mexico’s relentless Antonio Margarito. Cotto opened the fight brilliantly, using his speed, sharp combinations, and slick footwork to control the action. He darted in and out, landing clean jabs and hooks while making Margarito miss. The Puerto Rican’s precision and counterpunching allowed him to dominate the early rounds. But Margarito’s trademark pressure slowly shifted the momentum. Famous for his granite chin and constant forward march, he absorbed Cotto’s best shots and kept throwing heavy punches to the head and body.
