On May 8, 2016, at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan, undefeated WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya “The Monster” Inoue defended his title against gritty Mexican contender David “Severo” Carmona. This fight wasn’t the usual Inoue knockout showcase—it went the full 12 rounds. Carmona proved to be a serious test, landing heavy shots and pushing Inoue into deeper waters than his previous opponents. Inoue even injured his right hand in round 2 and found himself fighting predominantly with his left for much of the match. But just when it looked like Carmona might steal the night, Inoue turned on the power in the closing rounds. In round 12, he hurt Carmona with a thunderous right hand and bombarded him with a flurry—though Carmona stubbornly beat the count and finished the fight on his feet. In the end, the judges awarded Inoue a unanimous decision victory, with scorecards reading 118–109, 118–109, and 116–111—proving that even when his right hand was compromised, his precision, heart, and determination carried him through. 📍 Date: May 8, 2016 📍 Location: Ariake Coliseum, Tokyo, Japan 🏆 Result: Inoue wins via Unanimous Decision after 12 rounds 🏆 Title on the line: WBO Super Flyweight Championship Relive the fight that showcased Inoue’s grit, adaptability, and championship mindset—even when things didn’t go according to plan. -------------------- ╔═╦╗╔╦╗╔═╦═╦╦╦╦╗╔═╗ ║╚╣║║║╚╣╚╣╔╣╔╣║╚╣═╣ ╠╗║╚╝║║╠╗║╚╣║║║║║═╣ ╚═╩══╩═╩═╩═╩╝╚╩═╩═╝ to the channel people 00:00 Intro 2:45 Round 1 5:15 Round 2 7:25 Round 3 9:35 Round 4 -------------------- Follow me insta @charlessalbox facebook @charlessalbox #boxing #usaboxing #boxeocubano #naoyainoue #mexico
