NXT is used as a WWE developmental platform where superstars of tomorrow can learn to work the "WWE way" and get themselves prepared for weekly arena shows. Just like everything though, NXT had to evolve over time. The very first incarnation of NXT was nothing like the version we see today on Wednesday Nights. NXT was originally a reality show mixed with professional wrestling, or at least that's how the WWE described it. NXT was more like a contest that was similiar to the WWE's Tough Enough show. Basically, a group of WWE hopefuls would have to compete against eachother to earn a spot on the main WWE roster. Guys like Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel (PJ Black), Skip Sheffield (Ryback) and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) all appeared on the first season of NXT, and this video will look at the journey these men took on the television show.
