This is true regardless of whether you are a beginner or a seasoned operator. Start you boxing workout with a warm up like the one that I demonstrate in this video and you'll do OK. Before you start your boxing workout, you need to get your heart rate up, you need to get the blood flowing to the muscles. This will help you get the most out of your boxing workout, but more than that it will significantly reduce the risk of you picking up an injury. Don't make the mistake of seeing shadow boxing as part of your boxing workout warmup. Shadow boxing is a specific part of your boxing workout, it's not a warm up activity.
