However, Hardy was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by Jordan Mein. The pair battled back and forth in what was easily one of the best rounds of the year to begin the UFC on Fox 7 main card. Mein dropped Brown with a powerful left hook to the body. Mein attempted a guillotine choke on the ground, but Brown escaped and survived the round. Then, in the second Round, Brown came out aggressively, landing a straight right and a series of knees in the clinch that dropped Mein. Brown followed up with ground and pound, including elbows to the back of the head, leading to the TKO victory at 1:00 of the second round. The win also earned Brown his first Fight of the Night bonus award.
