Learn from Legends: http://www.legendarystriking.com New YouTube series - #AskKenshin Episode 1! I've started doing Q&As on Patreon for my Patrons. They asked me the best fight nerd questions. I knew I have some of the biggest technique nerds following my work! If you have a question, drop them below. I may answer / make it into a video, but due to quantity my Patrons will receive priority Q&A. Episode 1 features: Q1: What are your thoughts on the southpaw roundhouse? Yodsanklai, Samkor and many others have dominated with this tactic against orthodox fighters. Kenshin: The southpaw roundhouse demonstrated by Yodsanklai and Samkor is extremely effective. This is even more so against punchers, for the same reasons the switch kick is so effective. In southpaw, the left kick has even more power than the switch kick. What I find important to note is that Yodsanklai was not a prolific left kicker until he fought international opponents. The switch kick or the southpaw left kick has been used historically to dominant most international opponents by Thais because most kickboxers don’t have a solid solution for it. To solve the southpaw kick, one would do well to master a) the lean back & slide back b) the catch c) the mid check. Most kickboxers simply try to brace the kick and go for a punch while moving forward. This is exactly what the kicker wants. Of course, bracing and then attacking has also been effective in the past. But unless you’re a ferocious hitter like Ramon Dekkers, Tyrone Spong, Gokhan Saki, Marat Grigorian, I wouldn’t recommended it as the primary technique / tactic.
