In fact, I have a saying that goes "90% of what the top boxers do are the basics, they just do them very well." This videos covers one of the more simple boxing techniques. It's about giving yourself 3 targets to strike rather than the conventional 2. So, rather than just head and body, you have head CHEST and body. This is simple and extremely effective - you target 3 areas along the centreline - the chin, the chest and the solar plexus. Striking the centre of mass results in a punch that is very difficult to defend, it’s playing the odds because even if you are slightly inaccurate you still hit the target area and it hurts a hell of a lot if landed sweet. Whilst a defensively smart opponent can use any number of defensive boxing techniques to defend a straight shot to the head, it's more difficult to defend that centre of mass shot. This os one of the boxing techniques that well worth practising and offers you more variation when delivering your power shots.
