This is Jeff Hardy’s pursuit for the WWE Title. In August 2008, Jeff faced The Great Khali in a championship scramble qualifier, where Triple H helped him win the match. In the scramble, Jeff was one second away from winning but Triple H retained it. Jeff congratulated him on Smackdown. Triple H said he is always close to the brass ring, but he is always one second away. Then Jeff, MVP, Shelton Benjamin and The Brian Kendrick met for a chance at the title. Kendrick went for the pin on Shelton and Jeff appeared with the Swanton Bomb to win the match. Then Vladimir Kozlov took out Jeff. A week later, Kozlov attacked Jeff again and also took out Triple H later. A week later, Triple H, Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho met in a match, where Triple H hit Matt with the Pedigree to win it. Jericho hit Triple H with the Codebreaker, hit Matt with a ladder and Jeff came out for the save. Triple H went after Jeff, who hit him with the Twist of Fate, went up on the ladder and Kozlov took him out, who then took out Triple H too. Jeff and Triple H met at No Mercy. Jeff hit Triple H with the Swanton Bomb, went for the pin and Triple H countered him to retain the title. On Smackdown, Kozlov took out Jeff. Then Triple H faced Big Show for the title, where The Undertaker attacked Show and Kozlov attacked Triple H, ending in a no contest. Jeff came out but he was also taken out. Then they threw him out and Jeff hit Triple H with the Twist of Fate. A week later, Triple H talked about Cyber Sunday, where the fans will vote whether he faces Jeff, Kozlov, or both. Then Jeff and Kozlov met in the main event. Kozlov hit Jeff with the battering ram to win the match. A week later, both Jeff and Kozlov said they will win the title. Triple H said it’s going to be the same outcome and hit Jeff with the Pedigree. Later that night, Kozlov took out Triple H. Jeff got the most votes at Cyber Sunday and Triple H retained with the Pedigree. Kozlov wanted a shot at the title on Smackdown. Vickie told him if he beats Taker, he gets a shot. Next week, Jef
