White gi comes out with a quick guard pull but he does not make good connection with his legs and blue gi simply walks around his guard. At around 00:30 blue gi takes the mount but gets his foot caught in quarter guard. This trapped foot should have been his primary concern but he does not pay it much attention.Several times he could have just stepped it out and got full mount. White gi was not controlling the foot for several seconds Blue gi keeps top position and white gi uses the quarter guard to get half guard. White gi's coach calls for full guard but the transition is not controlled and blue gi uses it for an easy pass to side then to mount. He then locks up what looks to be an Ezekiel choke for the tap. What can we learn from this match? Address problems early before they become worse i.e. quarter guard to half guard. And have good connection and control with your legs as you seek to transition positions. An example of this was the guard pull and the attempt to go from half guard to full guard.
