🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: A new star shone Saturday night in Stockton, California — Gabriel Flores Jr. While he was already well-known in his hometown, his highlight-reel KO on ESPN gave his rapidly rising profile an extra burst of attention. In the main event, Artur Beterbiev (14-0, 14 KOs) remained perfect, defending his IBF light heavyweight title with a fifth-round TKO over Radivoje Kalajdzic (24-2, 17 KOs) at Stockton Arena. This marked Flores’ fourth fight in California, but his first in his hometown. The week leading up to the fight was filled with buzz, including him being presented the key to the city. Despite the hype, the teenage lightweight handled the moment with ease. With Top Rank promoter Bob Arum expertly building regional stars, don’t be surprised if ESPN and Top Rank return to California’s Central Valley for another Flores feature soon. Since turning pro in spring 2017, Flores has gone a perfect 13-0.
