This is AJ Styles’ forgotten feud on Rusev Day. In March 2018, Styles faced Rusev in a non-title match. Styles caught Rusev with the Calf Crusher and Aiden English attacked him, ending in a DQ. English was beating him down, Rusev joined the fight, Shinsuke Nakamura appeared and saved him from them. They were assaulting Styles, Daniel Bryan appeared and saved him from them. Then Paige announced a tag team match, which happened in the main event. Shinsuke attacked Styles and Big Cass attacked Bryan, ending in a no contest. A week later, Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows faced English, Rusev and Shinsuke, where Shinsuke hit Gallows with the Kinshasa to win the match. Two months later, Paige announced a five-man gauntlet match for a chance at Styles’ WWE title. Big E faced Daniel Bryan. Bryan hit Big E with the running knee to advance. Samoa Joe was next.
