India Won Low-Scoring Thriller at Jodhpur | | Dravid’s Captaincy Touch | India vs West Indies 2002

In a rare low-scoring ODI, India produced a disciplined all-round performance to level the series against West Indies in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Stand-in captain Rahul Dravid, continuing his golden run as skipper, won the toss and immediately put the visitors in to bat. Few, however, would have predicted that the Caribbean side would be bowled out for a modest 201 in just 46.3 overs. Intelligent bowling, sharp fielding, and clever use of conditions allowed India to seize control early. The day belonged to India’s surprise performers of the series — Murali Kartik and Sanjay Bangar. Kartik’s left-arm spin proved decisive on a surface that offered just enough grip and turn. Mixing flight, pace, and deception, he rattled the West Indian middle order and finished with an impressive 3/36. He was well supported by Ajit Agarkar’s fiery spell (3/24) and a tidy contribution from Bangar with the ball. West Indies struggled throughout, with only Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s patient 58 and Carl Hooper’s elegant 38 offering resistance. Once they fell attempting to force the pace, the innings quickly fizzled out. India’s chase, however, was far from smooth. Early wickets reduced the hosts to 38/3, briefly raising hopes for the visitors. But once again, Rahul Dravid stood tall. Alongside a composed Yuvraj Singh, he stitched together a crucial 99-run partnership built on placement, timing, and intelligent shot selection rather than brute force. Yuvraj’s well-compiled 54 and Dravid’s calm 58 took India to the brink before a brief wobble added late drama. In the end, Sanjay Bangar’s unbeaten composure sealed the win, guiding India home by three wickets with over three overs to spare. With the series now level, the stage was set for a thrilling decider at Vijayawada — a perfect reminder of why one-day cricket remains gloriously unpredictable. #cricketm
