The 533rd Convocation of the University of Chicago was held virtually on Saturday, June 13, 2020. During the ceremony the University President Robert J. Zimmer conferred degrees to all candidates, and along with Provost Ka Yee C. Lee, the Deans of all Schools and Divisions, and University Marshal Victoria E. The University of Chicago's Class Day ceremony on June 12, 2020 honored the graduating class, its achievements and its unique contributions to the UChicago community. It included addresses from student speakers Greer Baxter, Annie Geng and Emily Stevens, as well as a keynote address from distinguished cancer researcher, Dr. Otis W. Brawley, SB’81, MD’85.

Every year, prior to the University of Chicago’s Spring Convocation, SSA bestows a hood to each graduating student. The hoods represent a recognition of the completion of graduate education at SSA. The School honors graduates as champions of social justice in their commitment to advance a more just and humane society.
