Episode 15 – Radical Acceptance | Canceled. Recovered. Ready. This week was supposed to be a follow-up to last week’s episode about life after my divorce — but last week hit harder than I expected. My therapist suggested I pause the story and take a deep dive into something that’s been reshaping my recovery, my faith, and my mental health: Radical Acceptance. For most of my life, I thought acceptance meant giving up — like surrendering to the worst parts of your story and letting them define you forever. But I’m learning that real acceptance isn’t defeat. It’s freedom. In this episode, I talk openly about: • What radical acceptance actually is • The difference between accepting reality vs. approving of it • Why fighting the past kept me stuck • How resentment and anger became a cage • Pain vs. suffering (and why they’re not the same) • Forgiving myself through faith, recovery, and honesty • Why small, daily acts of acceptance matter • How trusting God fits into all of this November is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month in some countries (like the UK), and with it also being Movember — a month that raises awareness of men’s health issues including depression and suicide — this felt like the right time to talk about this.
