Andrew Fullerton entered SFC 29 as the most dangerous challenger of Gilmore's career: 5-0, powerful, with long arms and submission finishing instincts out of Combatives Sports Center in Manhattan, Kansas. In Round 2, Fullerton landed an illegal knee to Gilmore's temple. "It was right on the temple. I saw bright lights. I knew what it was — I wasn't going to quit for that," Gilmore said afterward. A point was deducted. Gilmore recovered. Then he came back in Round 3, took Fullerton's back in a scramble, and sank the rear naked choke at 2:02 to retain the belt. Gilmore improves to 8-2 and announced post-fight he's headed to the professional ranks: "I think I can do it.
