It’s a classic throwback match as Amber O’Neal presides over Venus taking on a then-rookie named Lorelei. The two grapple for an early advantage in this highly competitive match, swapping Headlocks and armbars. Venus applies an armbar and Hiptosses Lorelei to the mat, maintaining the armbar, which Lorelei quickly reverses into a Hammerlock. It’s the first of many clever, blink-and-you’ll miss-it reverses and escapes from the two warriors. Venus pounds Lorelei with forearm strikes and stomps, before trying three times for a pinfall and Lorelei kicking out at two each time. Lorelei keeps Venus off-balance with a couple of pretty Hiptosses, but Venus quickly counters and powers Lorelei up for a nasty Bodyslam. Lorelei appears to be in charge when she whips Venus 3 times across the ring into the opposite corner, then nails a running Clothesline in the corner. But a hiptoss into a pin and a small package can each only get a 2 count. The two continue to battle back and forth, with each competitor missing high-impact maneuvers and her opponent capitalizing. When one wrestler misses a charge into the corner, her opponent roller her up and, with the aid of her feet on the second rope, scores the three count to end this highly entertaining battle that gives just a glimpse of what the young rookie Lorelei is capable of.
