On December 14, 2024, Bruno Surace defeated Jaime Munguia by KO in the 6th round in a super middleweight bout at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Munguia appeared to be in control after scoring a knockdown in the second round, but Surace produced one of the biggest upsets of the year by landing a devastating right hand late in the sixth round. Munguia beat the count but was unable to continue, and the referee waved off the contest at 2:36 of the round.
