Many would call Rob Van Dam a pioneer and innovator in professional wrestling. His unique martial arts background, one of a kind offense and unconventional attitude made him stand out in both ECW and the WWE. RVD got a reputation for high octane matches in ECW that led to world recognition as he became a hot commodity in the 90s. By the time he made his way to WWF, he was one of the select few who were welcomed with open arms by the pro-WWF audience. In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, the first in a 2 part series, we will look at the career of Rob Van Dam, starting with his time in Extreme Championship Wrestling. This video covers Rob Van Dam training with The Original Shiek and Sabu, his brief time in the USWA and WCW, his debut in ECW, his laid back attitude that got him loads of like-minded fans, his feud and teaming with Sabu which eventually led to the men becoming ECW Tag Team Champions, his worked shoot promo against ECW and Paul Heyman at the first ever ECW Pay Per View in 1997, Mr. Monday Night appearing on WWF Raw in 1997, his feud with Jerry Lynn, his time with the ECW TV Title and his reasons for quitting ECW.
