Many styles don't practice them a lot, which leads to practitioners making incorrect speculations on how they would effectively counter or defend these kicks. One of the most common things you see is "just close the distance", which is - in fact - one of the worst strategies you can use against somebody who is proficient at spinning kicks. In Kyokushin Karate, these kicks are used a lot, and there is an established method for dealing with them, which we show in this video.
