Tech The Jetsons Predicted! This is the first of a new series I'm calling SCIENCE FACTION! Subscribe http://bit.ly/1kPjJZL Hi all! In this series I take a look at my favourite works of science fiction and discover just how well they may or may not have predicted the future of technology! I've kicked things off with The Jetsons, one of my first science fiction loves. (Apologies the sound and focus is a tad off - but this is youtube so... we're all cool right?) Welcome back to Science Faction! What technologies did Star Trek predict? I was bought up a Trekker, our household is decorated in Star Trek memorabilia and even our dogs choose Tribbles over any other dog toy! Now I came across this brilliant StarTrek Fact File which I have been using for my research and itβs unbelievable how many instances there are of StarTrek predicting technological advancements. These are just some of my favourite hard hitters! Here is the second video in my LEGO 'Women of NASA' series! This time we learn about the Hubble Telescope and astronomer, Nancy G Roman (also known as Mother Hubble!) On April 24, 2018, the Hubble Space Telescope celebrated its 28th year in orbit. This is my little way of celebrating this awesome machine of exploration! Today we build the final set from the 'Lego Women of NASA' kit! Margaret Hamilton is an incredible computer scientist and the woman responsible for a huge amount of the computer code that went into the Apollo 11 (The spacecraft and lunar module that landed on the moon!). The worldβs largest, most powerful telescope was launched into space on Christmas Day - itβs called the 'James Webb Space Telescope' but WHAT IS IT and WHAT WILL IT DISCOVER? I went to the UK's National Space Laboratory (RAL Space) where part of 'Webb' was put together - a special camera called MIRI that will enable the space telescope to look for distant galaxies and baby stars using something called Infrared light! ** I made another video at RAL Space about how the James Webb Telescope (and other spacecraft) are tested before they're launched into space! https://youtu.be/Bq5Ahis6yv0 ** This video was part of a MASSIVE Family Live Show hosted by Greg Foot on his YouTube channel. To watch it please visit: https://youtu.be/GYdtoTNqVyI A huge thank you to Greg Foot for producing&directing, to Mandy Celine for filming&editing to RAL Space for welcoming us along to film not one but two YouTube videos! Additional thanks go to... - STFC - the Science and Technology Facilities Council - the Webb UK Team -
The worldβs largest, most powerful telescope was launched into space on Christmas Day - itβs called the 'James Webb Space Telescope' but how do you test a spacecraft to make sure it's ready for the journey into space? I went to the UK's National Space Laboratory (RAL Space) to find out! RAL Space is where part of 'Webb' was put together and tested and I was lucky enough to see 3 different tests that all spacecraft & payloads have to go through before they leave our atmosphere! ** I made another video about the James Webb Telescope and a special camera onboard it called MIRI! Give it a watch to find out how Webb will discover distant galaxies! https://youtu.be/3rhFYTSv0Dw ** This video was part of a MASSIVE Family Live Show hosted by Greg Foot on his YouTube channel.
