Because Sanderson was redshirting, this loss does not count toward his official 159-0 NCAA record. The Rematch: Sanderson avenged the loss just over a month later at the NWCA National Duals in Iowa City, defeating Jenn with a dominant 10-2 major decision. Season Outcomes: Sanderson went on to finish his freshman year 39-0 in official matches, winning the 184-pound NCAA title and becoming the first freshman ever named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. Paul Jenn placed 4th at the Big Ten Championships that year and qualified for the NCAA Championships. They met again in the 1999-2000 season, where Sanderson won by disqualification after leading 9-1 in the first period.
