WCW Spring Stampede 1999 took place in Tacoma, WA on April 11th. This is the first WCW pay per view to use the new company branding and many consider Spring Stampede 99 to be the last decent pay per view event the company ever produced. The show features a star-studded main event where 4 competitors square off for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship; Sting, Diamond Dallas Page and Hollywood Hulk Hogan step inside the ropes with Champion Ric Flair while Macho Man Randy Savage officiates the match. The main event marks a turning point for World Championship Wrestling as not only do we get a new champion, but a superstar also gets injured which leads to some long recovery time. Elsewhere on the card Kevin Nash and Goldberg have their Starrcade rematch, Kidman gets a shot at Rey Mysterio's cruiserweight title, Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit look to settle their rivalry with Raven and Saturn, and Konnan tries to shut Disco Inferno up once and for all in a singles grudge match.
