تدور الأحداث حول (جيل)، التي تترك رسائل صوتية لشقيقتها المتوفاة تحكي فيها تفاصيل حياتها المضطربة في سان فرانسيسكو. لكن دون أن تدري، تبدأ هذه الرسائل بالوصول إلى وكيل عقارات غامض في أوستن، فيتحول الاستماع إلى اعترافاتها إلى بداية سلسلة أحداث غير متوقعة.
