Without usual Hollywood style nudes and gores)minimalistic horror which makes your fears work against you!Nicely done!
Like the Jaw, Open Water and the like movies I liked (feared, but only a little) The Reef - the ocean was and is still an always suspicious territory to me, not knowing what is below me alone give me the creeps with or without sharks and other beasts of the deep. So I admit, movies like The Reef got an easy shot to give me some goosebumps and thrills. All in all nothing special - no new cult, no new classic, but what I would call rock solid popcorn entertainment.
Five folks go on a reef diving excursion. After their boat sustains damage, it slowly begins to sink leaving them stranded on the overturned vessel. Four decide to take their chances in trying to reach land. Will anyone survive the dangers of the deep? I must say that I thought this was much better than Open Water. There was much more effort to sustain suspense and keep the dramatic atmosphere. However, it was still an average watch. I had one major question. What happened to the knife? Not bad. Not special. An average watch.
