Early Careers Admits Event: Meet the Programme Office
Dr Kathleen O’Connor, Clinical Professor of Organisational Behaviour, will close out the day by exploring belonging and why you belong at London Business School. Professor O’Connor will present some of the latest thinking around the importance of belonging, drawing on her own research as well as the work of other academics in the field. She will then highlight some of the reasons the LBS experience is set apart from other business schools. For the final part of the session she will invite some of our current students and Alumni to share their experience of belonging at LBS in a panel discussion. There will be an opportunity for you to pose questions to the panel as part of this interactive session.
The Career Centre team will be a vital contact point during your degree. In this session, Christian Dummett, Head of the Career Centre, will discuss some of the key highlights from our recent employment reports and share expert insight into the current state of the job market. You will also meet the team in small programme specific groups and hear more about the support offered to students on your programme, there will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Welcoming speech from Dean François Ortalo-Magné and Roomi Chowdhury MBA2022, Ph.D, to kick-off the afternoon’s agenda as we introduce you to our community and share a glimpse of life at LBS. The concept of disruptive innovation – whereby established leaders lose out to upstarts with low-end but fast-improving technologies – is hugely influential among academic and practitioners. In this talk, Julian Birkinshaw will share findings from his recent research to show that disruption is a much less common and more nuanced phenomenon than commonly believed. The important story, he will argue, is not about newcomers killing off incumbents, it is about incumbents adapting effectively to the fast-changing digital environment.
