The actors were pretty average and some characters had on-screen chemistry. The movie attempts to address sexism as it shows Lotte's unfair treatment at her work place, but it fails to address these issues adequately and instead all the male characters just are sexist. Lotte could be portrayed as a strong woman that realises her worth, but her character falls a bit flat. Overall it's still a feel good movie that makes you smile occasionally.
This is a chick flick with a nice to see Dutch Yolanthe and Jim... Just say Yes to the familiar plot, and you'll have a nice evening watching this film...
It was so bad that I wanna cry right now... Bad acting and a bad story. My god so bad.
This was basically a remake of The Ugly Truth and they added in a selfish sister who caused more drama. More cringes than laughs. Glad it was just a "play it in the background movie" and I didn't devote 1.5 hours of my life to watching it.
When you select romcom as a genre, expectations aren't very high to begin with. Cliches are expected. The storyline is thin as foil, the acting is worse, which is possibly due to the total lack of story. This film has absolutely no redeeming qualities. If you think Amsterdammed, or Flodder Goes America is bad, they're oscar winners compared to this p.o.s.
Its a romcom? Its form Europe. Thats what you get, dubbed cliche storyline. But sometimes this is what you need. Sit back, relax, get some popcorn. Laugh and enjoy. Thats it. No Oscar worthy acting, just plain fun and romance. Stop all the hate. Go watch some arthouse.
Enjoyable watch if you want to tune out for a bit. Music works well with the movie and there's a good cast. Are there cliché's? Of course! Did I mind? Not at all. You get what you expect and I enjoyed it.
This was a new low for Dutch movies! The naration is cringe. Acting is terrible. Predictable story.
Fat shaming, stigmatising, discrimination: it is all in the movie which is an achievement already. Combined with the worse acting ever, I'm not ashamed to be Dutch. Especially the fat shaming part (where a skinny girl is "too fat" for a dress and says she needs to loose weight, but also that it's about a TV show called "The Fatties") got me shocked and made me stop watching the movie. I can not understand how people would have wanted to feature in this pre-war story.
It's nothing new but it's light-hearted and fun. It has the predictable cliches and a fairly shallow storyline but it was enjoyable. Other reviews mention the English dubbing and actors, I can't comment on that stuff as I watch films in the language they're shot in and have no idea about Dutch actors; what I do know is the film made me smile and I felt good when it ended so it's a thumbs up for me.
