Enjoyable watch! - A really well written movie about secret service agents, assassins and the president. The characters were not complicated and both protagonist and antagonist had well mapped out backstories. A very good supporting cast also. A vastly entertaining film that never gets boring or is slow. It could have done with a few more action sequences, but nevertheless; very interesting & very thrilling!

A good film but not a great film. One thing is for sure, it did not age well. Not at all! And Eastwood is pretty much the only reason to watch this. I guess you should check it out if it is on TV?

Firstly, that relationship thing between frank and Lilly was pointless. Like they'd ever be together like come onnnn man. They could've picked an older person that was more suited to him. I'm not being funny but Clint looks about 50 years older then her. The First World War was happening when he was learning his ABC's. Other then that it was pretty entertaining film. It didn't blow me away but I definitely enjoyed it enough for it be a 7.

...and we all know Lee Harvey DIDN'T do it, but anyways...I think of this as being on of Clint's best, it has a great Icy nutzoid killer turn by Malkovich, good supporting work by Russo, Cole, Mahoney, Thompson, etc, yer reg. cast of '90s faces in other words. The action sequences are at times brutal, tautly directed, suspenseful. You believe most of what you see before your eyes as well. Def. a flick for you to catch if you haven't seen it before or seen it in a while. Clint in solid form as always, Dirty Harry with an earpiece. *** outta ****

It's amazing what 20 years will do for a movie's impact, because I remembered IN THE LINE OF FIRE being a lot more . . . thrilling. Aside from Malkovich's off-the-scales creepiness, this movie's fairly by-the- numbers for most of its runtime. But it's in the last thirty minutes or so that things finally heat up. The case gets cracked, the assassin makes his attempt, there's a hostage standoff in and around the Bonaventure hotel (nice to see it like this in a movie) and Eastwood - who up until this point was best at scowling and slamming phones - actually becomes a sympathetic character. I don't know if I want to sit through it again, but all that back-end action is enough to leave me (almost) satisfied. 6/10

This is one the best average movies I've ever seen. I don't mean this as an insult but this is the typical serial killer movie where everything that was supposed to be average was very well done. All I cared at the end was Eastwood's spirit with Malkovich's amazing performance that created an extremely enjoyable picture!

Many times big screen has tried to show the hazards of American presidents´lives. Although the risk is real, sometimes it is overemphasized as if the security would have been often inefficient. Personally I doubt it. So the plot prepared by the director Wolfgang Petersen is just a good fiction for entertainment. The film has two good actors, Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich backed by that attractive lady, Rene Russo, whose charm is always present. Expressed in a simple way, this film was the hunt of a cat (Eastwood) against the intelligent mouse (Malkovich), where the latter wanted for unclear reasons to kill the president of USA. After so many efforts Eastwood saved the live of the president and caught the cat Malkovich. However, it was a curiosity to see how the bodyguards of the president moved and how they protected him, which confirmed me that it is not so easy for any killer to be so close to the president of USA.
