Gonzaga is a World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu champion in the Ultra Heavyweight black belt division and a ADCC Submission Fighting World medallist, two of the most prestigious tournaments in the sport. In 2003 Gonzaga started MMA. In 2006 he started competing in the Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is perhaps best known for his upset head-kick knockout of Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 70, which earned him a heavyweight title shot. Marcio Corleta is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Maurício and Sylvio Behring, who is considered one of the top ultra heavyweights of his generation in the sport.
