Garrett was the unanimous No. 1 edge defender in the NFL according to league executives, coaches, and scouts, while Jared Verse landed outside the top 10 despite entering Cleveland as the centerpiece of the blockbuster trade. That doesn't mean Verse can't become a franchise cornerstone—but it does reinforce the reality that replacing a generational talent is about more than finding another good pass rusher.
