Taking his huge stature into account, he has been given the title shot in his return fight. Adesanya and Du Plessis had an uproarious face-off at UFC 290, when Du Plessis defeated Robert Whittaker. Back then Adesanya was the champion and a fight with Du Plessis looked imminent. However, Du Plessis could not recover on time and hence Strickland came into the frame.
