Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgović was a fascinating heavyweight fight — but was Itauma actually beaten, or did his own preparation let him down? In this fight review, I break down the problems with Itauma’s performance and, more importantly, the decisions made by the Itauma team in preparing him for Hrgović. I look at whether the focus on power punching and trying to hurt Hrgović came at the expense of setting up attacks, conserving energy and managing the pace of the fight. I also examine Hrgović’s performance and explain why I don't necessarily believe he simply "beat" Itauma — rather, Itauma's lack of preparation for the demands of a long, physically taxing fight may have ultimately been his undoing.
