Canadians skip US for domestic flights | CTV News Ottawa at Six for May 2, 2026
Domestic air travel is on the rise across Canada as passengers increasingly choose local destinations over international trips. CTV's Josh Marano reports that passenger totals at the Ottawa airport reached a five-year March high of more than 289,000 travellers; the flagship Giant Tiger store in the heart of the ByWard Market is celebrating its 65th anniversary this weekend. CTV's Natalie van Rooy reports that Ottawa mayor Mark Sutcliffe proclaimed May 3 as Giant Tiger Day to honor the local business success story; and hundreds of residents are exploring the history of the capital region through the annual Jane's Walk event.
