Because of Winn-Dixie
Both my children (nine and twelve) enjoyed this movie. The movie stuck pretty close to the source material. Kate DiCamillo books tend to have a theme of loss, broken hearts, darkness and light, and all of the kids in her books have lost one or both parents, either through death or divorce. So, this is more than being a cute dog movie.
