This was better then I thought it would be. It is written for a young adult audience but adults should find it interesting also, especially if you know your mythology. The reader was alright, although his attempts at alternate voices was pretty bad.
I saw the review on the morning news which made me download the book.Both my son and I have now listened to the entire series, twice.It has been one week.Well that should tell you something right there.We have both enjoyed the epic adventures of the Greek tales for some time much like the Percy, and enjoyed reading along as he lived his adventures.We can't wait to see what lay ahead for our heroes.Personally, I hoppe that a whole group of these books will open up within all of the worlds mythologies.Such a great job was done, just think what could be done to teach everyone about all of the other myths of the world.
My daughter so loves this series, and was THRILLED that I could put it on her new Ipod.The hard part is getting her to do anything else since she has started listening to it!
You'll want to keep listening in some parts, other parts seem too kidish, but then again it is a kids book.Not bad.
This book is good if you want to use it in the classroom to support study of Greek Mythology.I heard that students at my school LOVED it.I got it and was intrigued at first, then got bored during some parts. It took longer to listen to this book than others I have gotten of same length because it is not the most compelling one I haveever bought. I just finished it today.Was just glad to have it completed so I could buy something else.It has the same "formula" as Harry Potter but not as well written so not as good for adults.Kids like it because the author panders to thethem with silly stuff. He even has some surfers talk about "must have had some bad mushrooms."I think that is not very appropriate in a kid's book. I think the author wants to use that sort of thing to get kids to buy his book.I did finish it, but that is mostly a testament to my OCD personality rather than the quality of the book.
I don't get it. The movie is never better than the book but it sure was this time. I know Percy is supposed to be 12 but the way this was written makes as much since to me as the backwards "R" in ToysRus. I know some people like the Percy Jackson adventures better than Harry Potter. But for me it didn't even come close.
This is one book that was really delightful to listen to.I know that it had the young at heart in mind and you have to understand the fast paced thinking of it. You can start this book and be finished with it very quickly.

I loved the book it had action but sometimes it was freaky but is very much enjoyed this book and definitely recommend this book
This was a fun story. It is a kids' book but I still enjoyed it. The audiobook was good. The narrator did a great job and had a great child voice.
